Submissions and Guidelines

We are currently not accepting new submissions. We are too far behind. After we read more pieces we will start accepting again.

Thank you for your patience,

Daniel J. Pool

What We Publish
Here at Larks Fiction Magazine we publish a free online literary magazine for up-and-coming writers. We are accepting fiction, poetry, and nonfiction of all shapes and sizes. Preference is given to magical realism, science fiction, experimental, fantasy, and anything quirky written by amateur authors. Note that all works must be original and that of the author's.

We ONLY publish material acceptable for resell. Anything submitted to Larks will be considered as such.

We also publish music videos, short films, art, and dramas (as long as they are all original works).

What We Don't Publish
We do not run erotica (we may read it but will not publish it), fan fiction, or rants.

We also do not publish material not acceptable for resell.

Legal Junk
When you submit a story to Larks Fiction Magazine, a subsidiary of Larks Media, You (the submitter) are authorizing the world wide run rights to said magazine. Thereafter the first week of publication the full rights revert to you, the author of the creative content.

Your work(s) can be used as a promotional material or as a reference on promotional products (i.e. t-shirts, buttons, stickers, etc.).

By submitting your work you agree that your work may be sold in a print or online format.  You agree that it is acceptable for your creative content to be sold for profit by Larks Fiction Magazine. At anytime that you decide you do not want this done it will be stopped. You will receive one  contributor's ecopy for free.

Any profit gained from the sale of creative content by submitters to Larks Fiction will be used to (but not limited to) offering contests, paying artists, donating to Duotrope's Digest, donating to Legend Fire Writing Forms, donating to scholarships, and not limited to paying for expenses of editors and staff at conventions (such as registration and table costs).

You will receive a percentage after cost of publication, based on word count or line number, per issue that we sale. This is split between the publisher, cover artist, and writers/poets. All sales will be through Smashwords.com and print-on-demand (POD) services. Payments will be made through PayPal.com.

This is all to say we would like to make enough money to offer more back to our artists and get you all noticed more but we won't be greedy if things do sale well.

Other Stuff
Please note we are, sadly, not an up front paying market (outside of issue sales). From time to time we have contests, but on average your payment will be our gratitude and publicity.

Follow us on Twitter @LarksMedia for news, writing prompts, and updates.

Good luck, we look forward to hearing from you!
